Facebook Business Pages by Marina Golikova
Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you may know that Facebook is more populated than most countries (845 million monthly active users as of December 2011). Businesses like to take advantage of all this social media activity, and one way of doing so is by creating a Facebook business page. Facebook is now saying all pages will be converted to the new timeline as of March 30. One key part of the new timeline page is a large 850px by 315px space. For the Websites for Small Biz page, I created a modified version of the website header. I’ve seen businesses stick photos of New York City in the cover photo space, but is that really a good representation of your business?

Your Turn, Please
Have you seen any Timeline photos that have stood out for you? Why do you think the choice worked for that particular business or organization?

Hi Leora,
They’re some really good looking pages there, very talented :)
Facebook are constantly changing things, sometimes for the better sometimes not :(
I’ve recently added a fan page for the video blog challenge and having just set it up, bosh along comes another change.
I’ll have to get myself an image sorted out before the deadline. I did have a go but it was huge so thanks for supplying the required size, I’ll have another go now.
Thanks Leora

Barry,
I do find it annoying that FB keeps changing the set up. I’ve written two posts on how to do FB business pages in the past two years. Both are now woefully out of date.
Marina has reported having a full plate in terms of projects – for her, the FB pages are a bonus of more work.
Good luck with your video challenge!
Wow.. these are very creative and visually appealing.
With the new Facebook timeline changes I guess we can’t add any marketing to the picture. Would have been nice to include an arrow to the like button as before.

I’m thinking one’s marketing has to be more subtle.
Thanks for leaving a comment, Shamelle.
I love some of those photos Leora and now I have my work cut out for me about what the heck I’m going to put up there.
Was thrown for a loop when they told us no web addresses or advertising at all. Back to the drawing board I suppose.
Thanks for sharing these, I love them all.

Marina is really talented!
Don’t let the lack of marketing terms get to you. What you really need is some beckoning imagery. Maybe look at lots of Facebook Timeline cover photos before making your decision.
I also like the one for the New York Times – they photographed their entire staff for the photo.

Hi Leora,
Thanks for sharing those great ideas. This is a real challenge for me. Your post has got me thinking now for sure and I’ve added creating my timeline to my calendar with daily reminders of the approaching deadline. That’s progress for me. :)
