There are many Photoshop tutorials on the web. Many of the ones that get publicity feature advanced techniques. I decided to feature some favorite tutorials that teach basic or intermediate tools or effects. Below the link to the tutorial is an example that I created using the tutorial.

This tutorial was fun and easier than one would think. I loved the result. Abduzeedo is a great designer and wonderful at teaching design techniques.

I hope you find these useful. Even if you are not the one doing the edits in Photoshop, it is helpful to know what tools and effects are available so you can make suggestions to your designer.

Photoshop’s Eye-Dropper Tool

Any time you add a photo to a web page, it will have an effect on the other elements of the page. Say you wanted an exact color from this bouquet so you could replicate it elsewhere on the page – the eyedropper tool can help you do that.

The warp effect is a fun one, and it can attract a customer’s attention.

Layer masks are important tools in Photoshop. One can use them to “put back” color taken out using desaturation.

Blue Cast was Removed Using Levels in Photoshop

This photo had an annoying blue cast that I removed using the Levels tool in Photoshop. It is a surprisingly easy tool to master.

What tools or effects in Photoshop do you find useful? Have you used any of these tools or effects for your photos?
